Maybelline FTMe! Dewy + Smooth Foundation ($7,

For a brown-skinned woman like myself, it’s always hard to find a liquid foundation that’s going to give me a natural look! Maybelline’s FITme in #330 Toffee not only gives that finished look, but it makes my skin look incredible. It’s a foundation that I can DIY at home yet look like I just left a professional at the makeup counter. When applying, I use a small sponge or an foundation brush and dab a dot-sized portion on the areas that need attention and blend. It doesn’t take a lot and my method keeps more product in the bottle and less on my face. I am IN LOVE with this product it, FITS me!

MEET: BRIDGETTE & BIANCA TATUM of Clark Atlanta University
BY: Jacinta Render, Clark Atlanta University

It’s always inspiring to meet young female entrepreneurs that are in the fashion and beauty industry with a mission to style and empower women. I just recently spoke with the owners of online retailer Liz and Bee Boutique, twin sisters Bridgette and Bianca Tatum. The sisters are both graduates of Clark Atlanta University and they started this business during their undergraduate studies. Bianca is now pursuing an MBA at CAU. I asked these ladies about their business and beauty.

How long has Liz and Bee been business?
Liz and Bee was founded on November 1, 2012.

Why did you both decide to become entrepreneurs?
Entrepreneurship has always been embedded in our spirits. From grade school to college we’ve always sold something–from brownies to handmade jewelry. It was only right for us to continue those efforts into our adult lives. Entrepreneurship is a way of life, not just a job or position description.

Besides having an online boutique, are there any other services that Liz and Bee offers?
Liz & Bee is really growing as a brand. We are taking on avenues of styling, stewardship and community outreach. Styling has become very popular for us. We now style customers for photo shoots, do celebrity pulling and video shoots. Liz and Bee is transforming into a lifestyle brand for the educated, ambitious woman.

How do you incorporate beauty into creating the aesthetic for your website and your photo shoots?
We believe that beauty comes from within; our pieces are picked to enhance that inner beauty. Our website is fun vibrant and exhilarating. We like to use clean lines and pops of color. A great representation of what we think about beauty is our Don’t Just Dream spring video. Please check it out. It represents glamour, chicness, edge–the provocateur. These are all things that we believe shape beauty.

What are your top must-have beauty products for styling and more?
We use Zazzy Hair Extensions for curls, bone straight looks, and sometimes if a model on a shoot just needs more fullness. Our makeup looks are created using a range of products but lips are very important! We use MAC and ColorPop Cosmetics. Oddly enough, before a shoot we like to brush with baking soda. It cleans your teeth and makes for a perfectly imperfect smile.

What can we look for in the future from Liz and Bee?
Liz & Bee has so many plans for the future. We are currently working on a few web series as well as working on extending our brand to reach different audiences. In the NEAR future, you can look forward to our spring line that’s on its way. We have some extremely versatile pieces and some fun looks for the upcoming season. We believe that you can never be overdressed or over-educated–a phrase that Oscar Wilde so eloquently expressed. This statement embodies the hand-picked items that we have available for our customers.

What advice do you all have for college students wanting to start a business?
If you are a college student looking to begin your own business, we want you to know that there is never a right time! You have to take a leap of faith and believe in yourself. The first thing that you need is a journal. Jot down all of your ideas and then begin to compartmentalize them. Eventually your dreams will start to become organized and the next step is realization! We also recommend that after you jot your ideas, create a business plan. A business plan is essential to the foundation of a successful company.
